Measure the full width of your rail or track, then the drop from the rail to where you want the curtain to finish — sill, below sill, or floor.

Measuring guide
How to measure your curtains
Two numbers are all we need: the width of your rail and the drop you want. The diagram below shows exactly where to place the measuring tape.

Drop
Measure straight down from the very top of the rail to the point where you want the curtain to finish. If the rail is not up yet, measure from the exact height you plan to fit it: for a smaller window the rail should sit 20–30 cm above the window. Floor length curtains finish 1–2 cm off the floor, while curtains that stop at the window finish about 25 cm below the sill.

Measure the rail or pole end to end, excluding finials. No rail yet? Measure the width where the rail will sit and send us that number.

1. Window above a sill
Window that stops above the floor, curtain covering the window only
- Fit the rail 20–30 cm above the window so the curtain sits higher than the glass.
- Drop: from the very top of the rail down to about 25 cm below the bottom of the window.
- That overlap keeps light out at the bottom and makes the window look taller.

2. Full height window
Rail above the window, curtain to the floor
- Fit the rail 20–30 cm above the window rather than at the ceiling.
- Drop: from the very top of the rail down to 1.5 cm off the finished floor.

Rail at ceiling level, curtain to the floor
- Rail or recessed track fixed at ceiling level.
- Drop: ceiling line to 1.5 cm off the floor, the tallest and most elegant look.

Can I order these curtains in a custom size?
Yes. Choose a standard size or select My Measurements to order made-to-measure curtains for your space. Enter your measurements in the units shown and choose from the available heading styles. If you need help, select a measuring service before finalising your order.
Are curtain tracks and installation included?
Yes. Our made-to-measure curtain orders include the curtain track, fittings and professional installation. If you have existing tracks, an unusual window layout or specific installation requirements, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the right setup.
Are the curtains supplied as a pair?
Yes. Each order includes two curtain panels designed to meet in the middle. The width you provide is the total rail width covered by the pair, not the width of each panel.
What is the difference between sheer, light-filtering, dim-out and blackout curtains?
Sheer curtains soften daylight for a light, airy look. Light-filtering curtains diffuse light while providing more coverage. Dim-out curtains reduce incoming light, while blackout curtains provide stronger light blocking. Choose from the fabric types available; the overall darkness also depends on the fit and light entering around the edges.
Which curtain heading should I choose?
Double Pinch Pleat creates a neat, tailored look. Triple Pinch Pleat gives a fuller, more formal appearance. Wave creates soft, even folds for a contemporary finish. Choose from the headings available for this fabric; our team can help confirm the suitable track setup.
How do I measure for made-to-measure curtains?
Measure the full rail or track width rather than the window glass alone. For the drop, follow the measuring guide for your selected heading and track, measuring to where you want the curtain to finish. Check the units before submitting and avoid adding your own allowance for pleats or fullness unless the guide instructs you to.
How long does curtain delivery take?
4-5 days after order confirmation and payment.
Can I return made-to-measure curtains?
Curtains are not eligible for returns or refunds. If they arrive damaged, please contact us within 3 days of delivery so we can assess the issue as per our Return Policy.
Can I see a curtain fabric sample before ordering?
Yes. Select “Measure for me and browse the samples book” on any made-to-measure curtain product page. Our specialist will bring the fabric samples to your home, so you can see them in your own lighting before choosing.
How do I clean and care for my curtains?
Remove dust regularly using a soft brush or a vacuum with a gentle brush attachment. Follow the care instructions for your specific fabric before spot cleaning, washing or steaming. For a thorough clean, use a professional curtain-cleaning service and avoid bleach or harsh cleaning products.
